My Happy List

So things that make me happy…

Probably the most important one, I get genuine inner happiness from seeing people I love being happy, especially my children.

I also like to see people I know and don’t know being happy, even if I am watching something on TV where someone has been surprised by something wonderful it makes me grin like a Cheshire Cat, it’s making me smile now!

There are lots of other things that make me happy though and I would love to share them with you. Doing something kind for someone gives me a massive sense of happiness, again its that impact of seeing someone else happy I think.

The sound of genuine laughter, particularly when you hear children laugh and giggle. I was watching a video clip on social media a couple of days ago and it was babies laughing at the most unexpected things. It was adorable. It kind of shows that we are not taught to laugh – I think – because their laughter was so spontaneous.

This isn’t really looking like a list at the moment is it? Let’s try and simplify it a bit:

Animals doing funny things.

Animals interacting with me, coming up to me and wanting to be stroked.

Dogs smiling at me (especially mine!)

Hearing the birds singing in the garden.

Seeing the first signs of spring after a harsh winter.

Smelling the scent of a beautiful flower – especially roses or sweet peas.

Looking up at the blue sky on a summers day.

Looking up at the stars on a clear night.

Listening to a song that I love and can sing along to, or even dance around my kitchen to.

Writing makes me happy, especially when it ‘just flows.’

Watching dancing when it is perfectly synchronised, for example River Dance, I absolutely adore watching Irish dancers, they are so talented and I love the sound they make when they are dancing as well as just watching it! Love it, love it, love it!

Getting to my destination and getting warm when I’ve been out in the rain.

Going for a nice long walk in the countryside with the dog.

Feeling healthy.

Getting into my bed at the end of a tiring day.

Knowing that I have done something to help someone and it has really helped them.

Having a good blitz on my house so it actually stays tidy for a little while, it will never be a ‘show home’ because we’ve got too much stuff but I do try!

Cosying up and watching a ‘feel good film.’

Catching up with friends who I haven’t seen for a while.

Making new friends, either in real life or through social media.

Cooking a nice meal that I know people will enjoy eating.

Gosh there are loads more things I could probably add to this list. I am glad I have written this because it’s made me appreciate how many different things can create happiness!
